Happy New Year

Hi All
Happy New Year and may 2009 be all you wish for.

It is well into the new year now. I have had a very busy time and the time flew by.

I have had a visitor from South Australia I had not seen for over 6 years. We had a great time together. I picked her up and took her along to our Stitch and Bitch Doll and Bear group. She could not stop laughing at the way we all talked to each other and gave ideas to any project that anyone was thinking of making. Then deciding what we would all do on what day and who's house the next meetings were going to be for the next year. Only 8 of us in the group and we don't want any more as 8 is a great number to work with. On the way home I called in at Barb's home and we had a lovely conversation and of course more eats.

She did not want to do the tourist things with me as her friend was coming to stay with us the last night and they were then heading off up the coast to do that.

She decided she wanted to go shopping so off we go to the Plaza. She found a couple of nice outfits - me None as I will be losing weight this year and will wait till then. (Lapband on 2nd Feb.)

Next day she wanted to see a Nursery so off we went first one at the foothills of Buderim and then to an up marked one with a cafe and gift shop attached. We had a ton of fun looking in there and oh buying of course. She brought my husband a chili plant. She insisted on buying me a plant so in the end I chose a passionfruit vine. Both doing well in our garden.

Next week I had my friend Margot up and we played in my studio and designed and sewed 7 items out of a small scrap a girl had given me end of last year. I have to put that in to a class now.

I have been busy cleaning the house and cleaning and tiding cupboards. I want it all to be spic and span before I have the op. The studio got a really good going over and is now lovely and tidy again. I can't work if it is in a mess. Margot went home to give hers the once over as well.

I made these little wine glass holders and gave out about 30 of them over the Christmas and New Year break. You put the stem into the centre and it stops the condensation dripping onto you when you are drinking.

I just love this doll. I made her for my friend Claire's 60th birthday. Along with the doll I gave her a scroll with what a true friend is. She read it out and we all had a good laugh. Her daughter had organised a high tea for her friends. It was lovely but can't bet Sue Daley at her B & B.
Till next time take care and keep sewing.

CLASS

These pieces are from a class I taught a few weeks ago. It is lovely when you look back and see the work that was created. You know you did a good job in the teaching.
There were a lot of techniques in this class. First we painted on visoflex then ironed onto felt. One girl used heat and bond and it gave the piece a lovely shinny finish. Then we stripped silk flowers and arranged on the felt. Covered the piece with net and stippled it. Then the pieces were embellished with beads or motifs. One of the girls used silk that they had painted before hand and she cut her flowers out of this. Another used a piece of silk she had dyed years ago and then proceed to cut and fringe it. It was great to watch what they came up with.

CHRISTMAS IS JUST ABOUT HERE

I had made a couple of things to give to my daughter for Christmas. I have not been doing a lot the last few months. Time has just got away but will post the doll I made in the next few days.

I love the table runner and have made myself one as well and another on the way. A lot of work but worth it.

Hello again

These posts go to the bottom first so I am again saying hello to you all again. I have post quite a lot today to bring you up to date with what I have been doing.

I am showing you a little of what of I achieved in the last months. It has been a long cold winter and I did not feel like doing a lot with the craft/quilting. I am away for two weeks and then I will be back into doing things again. I am off to see the grandchildren and I can't wait.
This is a class I attended last week. I was really pleased with the way the blocks came out.
Now what will I do with this piece. It was to be a wall hanging but maybe it would be lovely as an evening bag. What do you think?

A Teddy made out of chenille for my grand daughter.
Emus I just love painting these little guys.
These are two of the painting I have compleated. I donated the elephant painting to a Cancer evening along with another one. I can't wait to see who the new home will be for them.
Elephants Textured I just love how this turned out when highlighted.
I have started to paint again after years. Sharmayne was the one that encouraged me to paint agan. I can only mess around no great artist here but it has been fun and relaxing.

Well I am back at last

Chinese Steam Boat Dinner.
This is Sharmaye my friend after we came home from the house boat. It is taken the night my husband and I cooked the Chinese Steam Boat Dinner.
These fish were caught when my husband took Wayne (from England) out deep sea fishing. Wayne was so thrilled. He had never seen fish that size before.

This is our dam filled to the brim with the rain we had about 6 weeks ago.
This is our lovely little minature Red Cattle Dog. Spoilt but hay we love her.

I can not believe that it was June that I last posted. I will try and post pictures of what I have been up to in the next couple of weeks.
I have some I can post now of when I went on the house boat with my Girlfriend and 6 of her friends that I did not know. We had a fantastic time enjoyed the waters of the Great Sandy Straights. We ate a few fish and crabs danced and sang the nights away. I want to go do it again. We had such a relaxing time and we all go on so well. I don't think I heard a cross word spoken the time we were on that trip. Very busy when I arrived home. With 3 dinners in a space of 4 days all to fit in before the English people had to go back home. (Husband wife and 14 year old daughter were on the boat with us) We had a Thai buffet cooked by one of guys on the boat then a roast cooked at my friends and last a Chinese Steam Boat at our home.

After that I settled back into my crafts and painting so I will have these to post soon for you to look at.
